What to Expect: A spin-off of Walk with a Doc, this will be a ~5 mile paddle with Dr. Tom Bartsokas of Memorial Health System. Dr. Bartsokas will provide a short educational talk on health and fitness. The group will then do a leisurely paddle down river and end at the Williamstown boat ramp. Paddle is guided but unsupported. Participants should bring their own gear, food, water, etc. For boat rental and shuttle information, contact the Marietta Adventure Company.

Time: Depart from the Marietta Adventure Company @ 3pm or meet at the Devol’s Dam at 3:30pm

Kick off the last day of RTA with a Sunrise Paddle around Buckley Island. Meet up at the Williamstown boat ramp (101 Julia Ave, Williamstown, WV) for a 7AM departure. Completion of the ~8 mile paddle will be celebrated with donuts and coffee afterwards!

Paddle will be guided but unsupported so be sure to bring your own gear, water, etc.

Ever been curious about dragon boating? This is a perfect time to check out a dragon boat, learn about technique, and get out on the water for ~1 hour with a dragon boating coach. 

The local MOV'n Dragon boaters will be hosting this RTA special event at the Carl L Broughton boathouse located at 814 Gilman Avenue.

RTA Lowell to Marietta Lock-Thru Paddle

Paddle together with a group from Lowell to Marietta. This will be a full-day 12-14 mile lock-through trip on the Muskingum River for hardy paddlers. Bring $5/boat for the lock fee, water, and food for the trip. 

Meet at the Lowell put-in at 8:00 a.m. Take-outs available:
- Indian Acres Boat Ramp (12 Miles);
- Marietta College boathouse (13 miles); or
- Continue down to the Williamstown boat ramp (14 miles). 

Kayakers may choose to stop at the Busy Bee food truck before the Lock & Dam. Note: the Lock is on the East (downstream left) side of the river.

This is a great chance to see the historic Muskingum Lock and Dam System, the only remaining hand-operated lock system in the country! The Muskingum River Parkway and its 160-year-old navigation system were designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers. http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/parks/muskngmr/tabid/773/Default.aspx

Stop by the RTA HQ to register for the Paddlers’ Riddle Run. Participate at your own pace anytime Friday or Saturday!

Follow the provided map to locate clue destinations on the Muskingum and Ohio Rivers. Once located, record the answer to the riddle on your scorecard. Then return your scorecard to be entered for prizes!

$5 to enter, or free with VIP Pass. Prizes announced at the Festival HQ during the Saturday evening prize ceremony, following the Bike Parade!

Interested in exploring a local lake? Leaders of this paddle will venture to Veto Lake, where they will explore the lake and feeders to the lake. Expect 5-10 miles on the water at a leisure pace, and participants may choose to return early should they wish.

This paddle is unsupported. No transportation provided. Bring all your own water, food, and gear.

Meet at Veto Lake boat ramp to depart at 2pm.

This is a great opportunity for new comers or people with experience just wanting to get some additional tips on how to work less and have more fun while traversing our wonderful water ways.
